With the introduction of its WaterHog fluid evaporation system, leading metal cutting fluids supplier Jemtech UK is well placed to put its experience to good use in delivering reductions to the cost of industrial fluid waste disposal.

The cost of disposing of waste from the manufacturing process is only ever going to increase. Therefore, for businesses to see financial gains, and for the sake of the environment, the volume of waste has to be significantly reduced. The introduction of the WaterHog fluid evaporation will make significant inroads into this problem.

Jemtech’s WaterHog is an evaporation unit that works on the ‘boil off’ principle where fluid is heated up beyond 100o converting the water content to steam leaving the residue of oil to be disposed of in the normal manner. Jemtech has enhanced the original design and incorporated some new and additional features that improve the WaterHog’s functionality and performance. For example it uses improved insulation resulting in faster heating of the unit and greater heat retention within the fluid, leading to a reduction in processing time and energy consumption, and a major saving in processing costs.

The user interface of the WaterHog has also been designed in such a way as to simplify and improve the operating procedure. Ease of access of all of the units controls was fundamental in its design and construction.

Using its experience of fluid use and management, gained from its longstanding partnership with Blaser Swisslube, Jemtech is first able to address many of the issues that create the waste in the first place. “By focusing on why and how the waste is being produced, which in general, is due to potentially inadequate fluid care or management, highlighted by poor sump life, excessive drag out or tramp oil contamination, we can typically reduce fluid use by 20 per cent and associated waste by 35 per cent. It is at this point that we can introduce WaterHog and look seriously at reducing the waste element by a further 90 per cent,” says Steve Coull, Managing Director, Jemtech UK.

While reducing waste and improving the environment is admirable the investment in doing so is a serious consideration for many manufacturing companies. The pricing of WaterHog ensures that users will experience extremely short payback periods and Jemtech has developed individual finance packages that provide even greater flexibility for the purchase of a unit or, for those customers operating a Jemtech Fluid Service Package, the cost of the unit can be included within the monthly service charge.
